Esoterica/Occult is an important chapter in the attainment of a personal development plan that actually works. Esoteric knowledge provides the individual with the secrets of the universe as well as practical techniques that will undoubtedly change one’s life.

What is the Occult?

The occult is a category of hidden supernatural beliefs & practices that do not fit onto the realm of religion. The occult includes different phenomena ranging from spirituality, mysticism, magic and Gnosticism.

The ‘occult’ is derived from the Latin word ‘occultus’ which translates to ‘knowledge of the hidden’.

In common usage, occult refers to “knowledge of the paranormal”, as opposed to “knowledge of the measurable”, usually referred to as science. (Underhill, E., 1911)

At the Neophyte Hub we analyze occult ideologies from all epochs of time, but we mainly focus on the following:

The Kabbalah is an ancient mystical tradition responsible for developing an esoteric method of interpreting and analyzing texts (mainly religious texts).

The first example of this esoteric method of interpreting texts is through the Zohar, which is a mystical interpretation of the Torah.

The main concepts of the Kabbalah are:

  • The creation of the universe.
  • Relationship between G-d and humankind.
  • The names of God.
  • G-d prior to existence as we know it.
  • The 10 emanations (Sefirot) by which The Infinite (Ein Sof) reveals himself and creates.

Yoga is an ancient philosophy originating from Northern India from around 5000 years ago. Yoga consists of 8 limbs (main tenets):

  1. Yama (Abstinences)
  2. Niyama (Observances)
  3. Asana (Postures)
  4. Pranayama (Breathing)
  5. Pratyahara (Withdrawal)
  6. Dharana (Concentration)
  7. Dhyana (Meditation)
  8. Samadhi (Absorption)

Alchemy is a branch of natural philosophy that looks at the methods of transmuting metals into gold, discovering different elixirs and most notably the attempt to discover The Philosophers Stone.

Alchemy is not just limited to the transmutation and discovery of tangible/physical objects. Alchemy is also utilized for the transmutation of mental states and spiritual advancement. This is known as Mental Alchemy or Spiritual Alchemy.

At The Neophyte Hub, we are mainly concerned with the transmutation of mental states for personal development purposes.
